Oval Shaped Diamonds

Oval diamonds are an elegant and sophisticated choice, combining the brilliance of the round brilliant cut with a distinctive elongated shape.

About Oval Shaped Diamonds

The first record of an oval cut diamond can be noted from around 1300 and can be found in paintings and artworks of the time. But, it wasn't until the early 1960s that the renowned diamond cutter Lazare Kaplan developed the modern oval cut featuring 56 to 58 facets that enhance its ability to reflect and refract light, resulting in remarkable brilliance and fire.

The elongated silhouette of the oval diamond not only creates a unique and eye-catching look but also has the added benefit of making the wearer's fingers appear longer and slimmer. This shape is versatile and works well in various settings, from solitaire to halo designs, and complements both contemporary and vintage styles. Oval diamonds often appear larger than round diamonds of the same carat weight due to their extended surface area, offering a striking presence without additional jewellery. Their balance of sparkle, elegance, and perceived size makes oval diamonds a popular and cherished choice for engagement rings and other fine jewellery.
